"The Brook" Dominant; Advance to Quarters

Mt. Carmel is one of the most potent football powers in Illinois and they pounded Bolingbrook in the play-off's last year but they ran up against arguably the states most dominant defenses on Saturday night and were eliminated from play-off action.

For those looking for a defensive slugfest Saturday night in Bolingbrook, you got it. Bolingbrook stymied Mt. Carmel's veer attack all-night long.

The Raiders defense led by future Florida Gator Antonio Morrison allowed only one big play, a busted coverage that led to a Mt. Carmel touchdown. Other than that, the Caravan was held in check and couldn't get anything going on the ground.

"It was a very good game," said Bolingbrook coach John Ivlow. "I thought they would score more but I also thought we would score more."

Bolingbrook defensive end Greg Gordon and safety Tevin Teamer also had very good games for Bolingbrook. Teamer had a key interception in the 2nd half that kept momentum on the side of the Raiders.

Once again, an opposing defense had no answer for Bolingbrook quarterback Aaron Bailey. Who had over 100 yards rushing in the first half, which included a 34-yard touchdown run.

Bailey rushed for a first down on a fake punt in the 1st quarter which kept a Bolingbrook drive alive and he used his athletic ability to escape a Mt. Carmel pass-rush and threw a laser to Xavier Perkins which eventually led to a Raiders touchdown.

Joliet Catholic's Ty Isaac is being talked about for player-of-the-year honors but Aaron Bailey, also a junior should be given consideration as well.

Bolingbrook isn't where they are at without the 6-foot-2, 225-pound gunslinger and Bailey touches the ball on every play. If not player-of-the-year, Bailey is a shoe-in for all-state honors.

Bolingbrook will host a Downers Grove South team next weekend that ended their season a few years ago in the play-offs. Should be a great game. Always is when the Mustangs and Raiders get together.
