The IHSA state championship games are one step closer. FOXSports NEXT breaks down which teams remain in the hunt for the State title and prospects that highlight these teams.

The Illinois High School football playoffs are one step closer to the state finals in Champaign, and there are just four teams in every classification left.

FOXSports NEXT breaks down which teams remain in the hunt for the state 7A title and prospects that highlight these teams.

Lake Zurich (10-2) at Glenbard West (12-0)

Six seeded Lake Zurich ousted the two-seeded Rockford Boylan Catholic 21-6 to advance to the semi-finals of the IHSA playoffs. One player to keep an eye on for Lake Zurich is junior outside linebacker Colton Moskal who is getting some early recruiting attention.

Glenbard West’s quarterfinal match-up against Wheaton North was an interesting affair, one of the only teams in the area to play on a grass field. After severe thunderstorms rolled through the area to delay the game, they defeated Wheaton North 3-0. Although neither team could get much offense going, Glenbard West hopes to change that with Vanderbilt senior tight end commit Nathan Marcus. The Hitters also feature defensive lineman Ruben Dunbar who has offers from Missouri, Oklahoma State, Illinois and others. Plus, junior offensive lineman Eric Shute and defensive back Hayden Carlson who both picked up their first offers from Toledo recently.

Lincoln-Way East (12-0) at Benet Academy (11-1)

Lincoln Way-East has an explosive offense, perhaps one of the most explosive that I have seen in person all season. Seniors leading the attack are Northern Illinois quarterback commit Tommy Fuessel and explosive wide receiver Justin Corbett. Another prospect that has made a big name for himself during his junior season is big offensive lineman Nick Allegretti -- who has offers from Illinois and Cincinnati. Allegretti has become a very dominant force in Lincoln-Way East’s offense, who has been just that over recent foes. Their quarterfinal match-up against Edwardsville resulted in a 40-10 win to help them advance on.

Benet Academy has been quite the anomaly, going from 1-8 last season to entering the playoffs at 8-1 this season. A big part of that has been the play of sophomore quarterback Jack Beneventi. Listed at 6-foot-6, 190 pounds and hearing from Notre Dame, Illinois, and Northwestern.
