If you’re looking for a natural athlete who’s starting to gain more and more interest from DI colleges, Marckie Hayes of Sycamore is your guy. The Illinois native and talented football prospect is looking to make a name for himself, and last night IllinoisHSPreps.com went one-on-one with Hayes. Read here for more.

Marckie Hayes, who plays for the Sycamore Spartans, is a member of the Class of 2010 and a 5’9” 185 pound two-way player. On defense, he’s a defensive back, and on offense he’s a star running back. Last year Hayes ran a 4.54 forty-yard dash.

“I want to improve my overall speed,” Hayes admitted. “I want to become more of a break-away back along with power. I’m involved in a program that helps with that, so I’ll continue to work hard in that area.”

Living in Illinois he really likes Northwestern and Illinois.

“I’ve really followed both programs,” Hayes stated. “They have done very well over the years; it would be great to start hearing more from those schools.”

Hayes told us that Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, Harvard, and Vanderbilt have all shown serious interest.

“I don’t have a favorite, but since I live so close to NIU, I know a little more about them,” Hayes said. “Some of the schools are starting to set up visits with me. Harvard came to my school this week.”

With closing speed and tremendous upside, look for more suitors to pursue this athlete. We will have more on his game and the ongoing recruiting process.
